Mary Petrich of Jazz Women’s Collective Holds Girls Clinic

Mary Petrich brought her Jazz Women’s Collective program to The Century Room on Saturday, Marcy 14, 2026. Mary was the director of the Foundation’s All Girls Jazz Summer Intensive back in 2019 funded by donors in memory of Tucson’s Women in Jazz advocate Yvonne Ervin. Mary teaches jazz improvisation at Phoenix College and headed the girls/women’s programming at The Nash. The Jazz Women’s Collective celebrates the diverse musical landscape created by influential women from the early 1900’s to the present, including such jazz giants as Mary Lou Williams, Ingrid Jensen, Roxy Coss, Marianne Trudel, and Renee Rosnes.

The girls learned and performed Little Sunflower by Freddie Hubbard and Work Song by Nat Adderley.

“What a wonderful afternoon it was working with the Jazz Girls of Tucson! They worked hard and played beautifully that evening with our professional group at the Century Room in Hotel Congress.  Thank you Tucson Jazz Foundation for this opportunity to share and learn together.  The future is bright.” Mary Petrich
